The Island of Hee-Po

Nestled on the top of the world in the chilly Artic, the frozen island of Hee-po, is most popular with the younglings, albeit by the name of North Pole. Inhabited by man relatively recently, this perpetual wonderland is currently the unrivaled axis of world trade. Similar to the way the Vikings aimed to perplex and confuse by naming the land with ice, Greenland and the land of greenery, Iceland, the technologically advanced manmade island of Hee-po was brought into public view largely by the advertising efforts of "Santa's Little Helpers."

Physical Description

Being located at the North Pole, it is a constant below freezing temperature without much drastic change. The winters are harsh, long, and extremely cold and the summers are short and chilly. There are occasional snowstorms. Hee-po is a large slate rising out of the ocean after the great earthquake following the global warming era which was followed soon after by the second ice age. Hee-po's strengths include being almost exactly in the center of all the other continents, thus successfully serving as an efficient trade center. Its extremely frigid temperatures dissuade ambitious neighboring groups from attempting to conquer and divide its lands. Its weaknesses include the fact that it is an entirely ice and rock territory which gives way for only ice farms to be raised.

The actual location of civilization of Hee-Po is located in two parts. In the south, lies the trading port of the world, while literally in the north, the decisions and doings of the NUTPEA take place in a massive tree-like dome called the HEE-House, a not-so clever play on the words Hee-Po and treehouse.

Politics

In 2501, the disastrous global warming panic had caused all seven continents to launch a great world war in an attempt to find someone to point the finger at. The greenhouse effect was greatly fastforwarded from all the energy used in the fired weaponry that it sped up the process and in turn melted what was left of Antartica and caused mass flooding to ensue all over the way. Because this was eventually followed by a flash ice age, the juxtaposition of the two events became commonly known as the HOT/COLD of 2506. Realizing the damage that they had done to themselves, all the nations of the world (they didn't forget Poland) banded together in an effort to cease fire and work together for the survival of all. They formed what was to be called the NUTPEA, which stands for Nations United Together to Prevent Earth's Annihilation. Mother Nature having scared humanity into cooperation, NUTPEA worked feverishly to present something to the world that societies from each continent could call theirs and be proud of. This led to the creation of HEE-PO.

HEE-PO is unanimously declared as a neutral zone that is used to house all the NUTPEA meetings whenever conflicts arise. Today, HEE-PO remains maintained by the NUTPEA. NUTPEA's primary belief is that HEE-PO belongs not just to the people, but to all people. It is a democracy with its states being the nations of the world, similar to the way the United States is made up of different states. Using a tiered system for representation, decisions are first relayed from city to state
