A Dream is just that- A DreamÐ'...

If Dr. King was brought to the present time with a mystical time machine, he would be initially elated to see all of the integration and diversity that we take for granted. From schools, to businesses, to mass transit, everyone is served in the "same" manner disregarding race and social status. I can only imagine how proud he would feel that so much was accomplished. Unfortunately, the visible diversity is the best representation of his dream. It only touches the surface of the indefinite quest for equality. Dr. King's dream hasn't been achieved in today's world. We are all not and will not be equal in any respect.

Social (adj.) - tending to form cooperative and interdependent relationships with others of one kind.

It's a part of life that you won't escape. Social class and order have been placed since the dawn of time. You have a variety of friends and associates from different backgrounds and lifestyles, but take a closer look, who does your immediate network consist of? More than likely your closest peers are similar to you on economic, ethnic, religious, and political stance. In this light, segregation occurs. People associate themselves with those who share common characteristics. It's easier to relate and to be understood.

Arguably, this is ignorance; because individuals will not socialize with someone that is vaguely different from what they have grown accustom to. This is human nature and trying to modify this would be fighting the inevitable.

This list is virtually everywhere- from obtaining a driver's license to applying for jobs this list is a given on any application. Institutions
