Why Equality Does Not Exist in Thai Democracy?

Thailand had been governed in democracy system originally since the period of king Rama the VII, which it was about 80 years ago. This was considered as one of the significant change to Thai society. However, the question is that do we really have the real democracy? Is it effective in Thai community? Does it bring equality, which it is the main ingredient of democracy?

As we could perceive very clearly that equality does not really exist in Thai democracy, furthermore it occurs many conflicts between the Thai. Hence, our group project is to study on how the inequality arose, owing to the failure of democracy.

Our objective is to define Thai behavior due to the fact that it is the main cause of inequality because most of Thai people concerned only about themselves but ignore the public responsible. In addition, Thais usually value connection instead of self-abilities. Thus, Thai citizen never feels self-responsibility. This system kept going endlessly, which it inscribed in our mind-set that we do not need to have public consideration.

In this research, it would be discussing of the possible reasons of having inequality in Thai society by looking to each important aspect of Thai society cycle, based on Thai behaviors. It will be mainly concerned about Thai political, education, social class, personality and belief. Hence, it would demonstrate the cause of inequality in Thailand; nevertheless it is under the democracy system.

It is well known that the word ‘democracy’ originates from Ancient Greece. The word demos means "the people," and kratein means "to rule." So it means '' ruled by the people'' or ''the people rule.'' A democracy is a regime where rule is determined by the people.
