The Father of Battle

William Wallace, this name alone struck fear into the hearts of many English for generations. William Wallace was a Scottish rebel who led an uprise against the cruel English ruler, Edward the Longshanks, who wishes to inherit the crown of Scotland for himself. When he was a young boy, William Wallace's father and brother, along with many others lost their lives trying to free Scotland. After losing another loved one during this cruel time he began his long quest to make Scotland free once and for all, along with the assistance of Robert the Bruce. In the end William Wallace ended up giving his life for his beloved homeland of Scotland in the perseverance of freedom for his people.

I think most of the information presented to us in the movie was historically accurate. William Wallace was so dedicated to his people and his land that he would do anything to try to preserve and protect it, so I believe that most of the fighting and conflicts between the characters really did occur. I also think that the movie did a good job portraying what life was like for them and the hardships they went through to gain their freedom. I also think some parts were added for the Hollywood drama, like the love story behind the whole movie. Although he was in love I don't think it was as major as they played it out to be. William Wallace was an important commander of his time but I think there were other people that contributed to the freedom won by the Scottish.

"It's all for nothing if you don't have freedom." William Wallace was a strong-willed man who greatly believed in freedom for his people and for the people that are soon to follow him. I really did enjoy watching this movie because it showed us a sense of power and stride for something the Scottish really longed for and what we take for granted everyday. Another reason I liked this movie was because it gave you a sense of how much one man can really care for his country and
