Abstract

Prosocial behavior are actions that are kind to others or animals. They are different forms of prosocial behavior such as sharing, helping, and cooperating. Sharing is an action of giving or dividing. Helping is an act of kindness and rescue. Cooperating refers to willing to work with others to complete something. In occasions children share altruistically or they share something to initiate social contact. Helping, is assisting others in a kind way or making someone feel better, such as rescuing them or defending them. Cooperating, working together with someone to complete a task or job. However prosocial behavior plays a huge role in life. It is really important to teach children prosocial behavior. Parents have to teach children at a young age. Children will need three ability’s as they get older. They will need cognitive competencies, emotional, specific skills and empathy.

Prosocial Behavior

They are plenty of movies made for children that model prosocial behavior. In the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast, it demonstrate a prosocial behavior in many scenes. When Beauty is getting attacked by the wolves, the Beast helped her although he knew it was dangerous. He defended Beauty even though it was a dangerous situation. After the Beast helped Beauty from the wolves, he was injured badly. Beauty was about to leave, and she saw him injured and in pain. Beauty couldn’t leave him without helping him first. After all he helped her first. Beauty wanted to remove his distress by curing his injuries. Beauty’s actions towards the Beast, were kind she had rescued him although she was afraid of him. Beauty wanted to thank the Beast for rescuing her. The Beast was self-centered when Beauty offered to help him, he didn’t want the help. He felt capable of dealing with his injuries on his own.
