Olympic Observation Paper

International games competitions particularly Olympics should be entirely free from fundamental geopolitical tensions, and instead focuses on embracing peace, cohesion, and desirable coexistence among the international community. The South Korean winter Olympics are not exceptional in spreading the peaceful messages across all diversity of people which is expected worldwide. Nevertheless, outside analysis as well as contributors’ opinions, of the utmost imperative issues pertaining politics, science, as well as culture in the international games is the sense that games should channel positive message of peace globally. The Olympics pamper  what claims to transcend the global basic instinct perceived to convey positive racism at such times of escalating nationalism.

The PyeongChang, South Korean winter Olympics went on well with snowboarders and skiers competing to perfection. The competitors, as always, had to be tested for traces of drugs in their bloodstream for the purposes of equalizing the competitions. This was noticeably different from that of 1987 where the North Koreans blew up a traveler Boeing 707in pique out of the sky at being deprived of a segment in Seoul summer sports in 1988. The modern Olympics are designed in a way that they can channel perilous nationalism into a caring and more so positive kind of competition. But then again, while Concord and harmony are capable of reigning on the surface, many commentators are arguing the fact that sporting competitions among nations will not aid but rather stir up ancient resentments and antagonisms.

On a personal perspective, the pessimists are hugely mistaken. International sporting competitions do not help much, although they boost the understanding as well as counteracting patriotism, which is a national leveler. What the detractor's mistake is the form in which sports are capable of compelling respect for their opponents? The fact that Koreans were supporting other countries in the Olympics is an indication that they as well embrace cosmopolitanism as they recognized their foes as moral contemporaries. Cheering and encouraging own country in sports perfectly fits the description of rooted cosmopolitanism. An admiration for other nations such as how Koreans cheered Dutch haste skaters is flawlessly well-matched with a distinct attachment to their own with the hope that the Americans can pull off their upset that was staged during the world war.

International sporting, Olympics being an inclusion is all about individual competitors competing and not rather competition amid countries although the winning state tallies the medals. In the international Olympics that were held at Pyeong-Chang, the Koreans much supported their Olympic team personnel giving strong credence to localism as well as patriotism. The intrinsic worth of sporting competition applies in numerous aspects. By contending, nations can recognize others standings although superior nations such as the United States are capable of regarding the United Nations as an unlawful constraint in the world power although it somehow makes little sense to carry along similar attitude to the universal Olympic committee.

It is just the cosmopolitanism characteristic of the Olympic model that turns a hood of individuals against it. For instance, in the 1996 Olympics at Atlanta, a certain guy detonated a pipe bomb that resulted to killing a person while injuring others and later explained that he was motivated by the fact that Olympics promoted global tribalism and he wanted to provoke games cancellation. Regarding this year’s Olympics in South Korea, the sporting competition fueled the anticipated motive of gaming which is focused on recognizing the worthiness of other competitive nations as well as global socialism.
