The Darkest Chapter of Jewish history

There are so many questions that we can ask about this event - the Holocaust. Why did it happen? Why was it directed to some people but not to others? What did the Jews do to deserve such a thing? Some people think that it was a punishment. But do you really think that if the Jews did something wrong that they deserve such an awful punishment. How could a person like Hitler sleep every night, knowing, that because of his actions millions of people have died. The word Holocaust means complete destruction of life Ð'- almost Jewish life. It sends a shiver down your spine when you think of the number six million. But really, it is so much more. From those six million people would have come millions more.

The invasion of Poland in 1939 was completely unprovoked. There was no reason. Between 1939 and 1941, seven hundred thousand Jews were killed. There was an incident in 1941 when a group of Nazi soldiers just gunned down thirty three thousand Jews. It was not only Jews that Hitler was much against, it was also Gypsies, Slavs and homosexuals. In 1942, many camps were built, one of which was an extermination camp in Auschwitz. The Nazis killed in many horrific ways that they were very proud of, such as, using cyanide, carbon monoxide gas, electrocution and phenol injections. When the Jews were sent out of their houses, their bank accounts were frozen and their possessions were taken from them. Absolutely everything. Every time that the Nazis took all of the possessions of a family, they would put them in big piles. One pile for jewelry, one pile for shoes, one pile for shirts and so on. There lives were extremely miserable. At night, they were piled onto wooden bunks without blankets or pillows and they were squashed so closely together that they could not even role over in the middle of the night.
