Case Study Student Analysis

This paper is about Sally, a friend of Marsha whom has applied for a job at the same company Marsha is an employee of. Marsha works as an assistant human resources manager for the company that Sally has applied for a Job at. In this paper you will find out the problem that Marsha is faced with and the solution to that problem.

In this case study you will be reading about two friends Marsh and Sally. It has been stated that Sally has applied for a position at Marsha Company and has apparently lied on her job application. Sally has used Marsha as a reference on her application because they know one another. Marsha knows the struggle that Sally has had the past year with her marriage and also with her financial situation. In this paper it will be found that Sally has lied on her job application that she has the required degree for the position at the company Marsha works for.

It has come to Marsha attention that Sally has used her as a reference and after which she is asked to fill out a recommendation form for her friend Sally who has lied on her job application. Marsha also knows that Sally is an alcoholic. Now, Marsha has a duty to her company to make the right decision whether to let the company hire Sally or if she would be better off in letting the company hire Sally. Marsha should inform the company that she knows Sally does not have a degree. If Marsha let's Sally takes this position there is a chance that Marsha is also going to lose her job for lying if she signs the recommendation form for Marsha knowing that Sally has lied on her application. This could cause a problem with Marsha and her position as human resources today and with the lie that Sally has told on her application

Marsha must make a decision of whether to tell the truth or let Sally begin work with the lie she has told on her application. Sally, has to know that lying on her application will most likely get her fired or get her demoted from the position she has applied for. First in order for Marsha to make her decision about the recommendation form she will have to look at all the reasons that Sally may have lied on her application. It has been said that "many applicants try to increase their chance of getting hired by exaggerating or down right lying about their experiences or credentials, even though this may help a person land this job (Guerin, L. 2014). Sally has lied on her application and Marsha has a job to do with her company to ensure that things don't go wrong with the company by helping Sally tell a lie. This would make Marsha accessories to Sally's lie if she doesn't report her to the company. A person who lies to get a job will soon be placed in a situation to either be fired or have no respect from anyone they work with. The person who lies on their job application will lose their rights in the work place.

Sally in this case can also end up in suffering some serious consequences for telling a lie to get the job. If something happens to Sally or the company because of her lie she has violated the rights of her employers, or if she had told the truth they want have a reason to fire her without cause. That way if the company violates Sally's rights she has a right to sue the company for firing her. By Sally lying on her application she can win a law suit if she sues the company because she falsely got the job in the first place. NOLO.com (2014) stats that "courts have generally found that employees who lied to get a job cannot later come to court and claim the employer fired them illegally." Most employers are able to prove their case in court by showing the court systems that people like Sally want be able to claim that she was terminated from her job, because she was not qualified for the job in the first place. Research shows that a person who has listed untrue item on their job application is a person telling a lie for a job, like any employer questions that are always asked on job applications are if you have had previous employment. Failing to tell a company your previous employment is considered a lie. Other items that have caused a person to lose a job are listed below.

 failing to list a previous employer on a résumé

 failing to admit to being terminated for cheating on timecards

 failing to reveal a prior felony conviction

 lying about education and experience on a job application, and

 Lying about a college degree during an interview.

In addition to lying on an her job application, Sally has a problem at home with her marriage and also she has a problem with drinking and soon those problems will cause problems at her job because she is an alcoholic and lying about her degree, places Marsha in a very ocward situation. Lawyers.com, (2014) states that "many
