Chapter 1:

What do you learn in this chapter about Maycomb, Atticus Finch and his family (Write 3-5 sentences apiece)? Atticus finch is the father of scout and jem, and when jem was 13 he had broken his arm badly and couldn’t play football. Jem is four years to scouts senior. They had no recorded ancestors on either side of the battle of hastings. All they had was simon finch who was a fur trapping apothecary from cornwall. They also had calpurnia as their cook. Maycomb is an old town, with rainy weather with grass overgrowing onto the sidewalk. The temperature was humid. People also moved very slowly, and shuffled about the crowds, or ambled across the town square.

What do you learn about Dill's character?

Dills character is one with curiostiy and determination. He is very interested in jem and scout and he only arrives at the house next door in the summer.

What has happened to Arthur "Boo" Radley? (3 sentences minimum)

What happened to arthur boo radley was he was acused of murdering his wife. And he has been known to only come outside when its night and he never comes out of his house any other time.

Why does the Radley place fascinate Scout, Jem, and Dill?

It fascinate them because its mysterious and nobody knows whats happened, and theyve never seen mr radley. They dare each other to go up and touch the house but only one of the children do.

Who is the narrator of this story? Is it told in the present or from the future?

This story is told from the future by scout. Its told from the future because shes looking back on her memories.

Analyze this quote: "'Turtles can't feel, stupid,' said Jem. 'Were you ever a turtle, huh?'"

The quote means that they were only kids when jem made that assumption. But then hes corrected cuz he doesnt know what turtles can and cant feel because ur not a turtle. It tells us not to judge or say anything about them in a negative way because u dont know what theyve been through and u arnt them. So u will never them, and never will be.

Chapter 2:

Why is Scout so looking forward to starting school?

Scouts looking forward to school because she gets the opportunity to learn more and meet new friends. And she will walk to school with jem.

Why does Jem not want anything to do with Scout at school? Is his behavior typical of an older child?

He doesn’t want anything to do with scout because , and yes his behavior is typical of an older child. That’s how i am with my sisters. I just don’t want them to embarrass me.

What do you think of Miss Caroline Fisher as a teacher? Can you find qualities which would make her good or not so good at her job?

What i think of miss caroline is that she's prissy and has attitude and that she hasn't adjusted to the environment the she has recently taken in. and the good things would be that she's pretty. And also fashionable. But the sternness and doesn't understand and slaps her hands with a ruler. That would be the negative parts of her as being a teacher.

Chapter 3:

Who is Calpurnia? What is her place in the Finch household?

Calpurnia is a person who is hired in the finch household, and she prepares the food for the children and atticus. She watches the kids as she plays as well. She eventually becomes family.

What is Walter Cunningham like? What does his behavior during lunch suggest about his home life?

Walter cunningham is very sensitive and fragile and when he acts like this, it suggests that his home life is That he's very poor and he doesn't want to take anything that he cannot repay and he's honest.

What do you think of the way Atticus treats Walter?

He treats him like an adult.

Does Scout learn anything from Walter's visit? What do you think she learns?

When walter visits scout, she learns that shes not supposed to judge walter because he's a guest in her house and she realizes that walter is a person, just as she is.

Atticus says that you never really understand a person "until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." What does this mean? Is it an easy thing for Scout to learn?

When he says that, he meant that he should try and look at stuff from a different point of view then they normally do and it won't be easy scout to learn because she is still a child.

What do you learn in this chapter about the Ewells?

When i read this chapter, i learned that the ewells are very poor people and they have lots of issues and even though they are going through so much, they won't accept something that they can't pay back. And when they do pay you back then, they won't pay it back in money because they don't have any at all, they repay them by crops and food.

Chapter 4:

What does Scout think of current fashions in education?

She thinks that the new education is pointless because she thinks that it's not going to help her any. She also thinks that school is really boring and she wishes that her teacher will allow her to read and write with atticus.

What superstitions do the children have in connection with the Radley house?

The superstitions that are connected to the radley house are very different. The reason is because there are many different versions of the story of the radley house and different stories all together. It's because kids have very strong imaginations, that can make anything come into the radley story.

Why do the children make Boo's story into a game?
