The Disney’s Zootopia

The Disney’s Zootopia movie is more than just an ordinary kids film; it has so much to take in and evaluate. Directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, the movie does a great job in demonstrating its theme, conflict, plot and characterization . The film gets its name by a known Utopia where both predators and prey live in harmony in the Zootopia.

The characters in this film are separated by predator and prey, although they are in good terms, many of the prey are still afraid of the predators. Two of the characters of the film are Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Judy Hopps is the protagonist in this film; she comes from a family of carrot farmers but she’s dreamt to be more than just a farmer. Judy is a new member to the Zootopia Police Department and as a bunny she is incredibly brave. She doesn’t let the discouraging words such as “dumb bunny”(Zootopia) and the criticism of the community bring her down. Judy is then followed by Nick Wilde, a fox with a difficult past that made him become the fox he was in the beginning of the movie. “Well. I stood up for you, and you lied to me. You liar!” (Zootopia) He is your typical clever fox until he links up with Judy to solve a missing animal case.

Zootopia varies with different themes all concluded all over the film, however, the most bias theme is stereotyping. The movie is consistent with this subject, Judy, who is a small town rabbit who always dreamt to become a police officer but is told by many she’ll never be more than just a carrot farmer; is the target of stereotypes. Judys parents Bonnie and Stu Hopps, both try to convince Judy at a young age that becoming a police officer isn’t the best choice for a bunny. Stu says “There’s never been a bunny cop. Bunnies don’t do that”(Zootopia), which Judy takes in one ear and out the other. Nick Wilde is a fox who also gets stereotyped because he's a fox. On the other hand, Nick fulfills this position in the beginning of the film as a sly and conniving fox. When he was younger, he was bullied for being a predator and from there on he became what everyone expected from a fox. “If the world is only going to see a fox as shifty and untrustworthy, there's no point in trying to be anything else”, Nick tells Judy one of the things he’s learned from his unfortunate past.

The plot starts off when Judy being a rookie in ZPD (Zootopia Police Department) getting assigned as a meter maid while all her co-workers get assigned to missing animal cases.
