The Eagles are a band from the sixties and seventies, which came up with one of my favorite songs Hotel California. Hotel California is a song that is subtle because the song has many distinct images and unusual twists of phrases, there are several possible interpretations, philosophies, and ideas of what this song could mean to different people. It does not mean that this song is not argumentative; it just means that it depends on the listener and there opinion on the meaning of the lyrics.

Hotel California's main claim is to cover all aspects that a person could go through in their lifetime. It gives people many hidden messages, dealing with and fighting of their own addictions of all and any kind. It gives the listener decisions and the time to evaluate what they assume the song interprets to them. For example this phrase from the song, "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device, and in the master's chambers." It could mean that we all have our little beasts and demons trapped within ourselves. Then again, it could be a mental hospital. Therefore makes it possible for the song to have many aspects and cannot be considered an argument.

The songwriters I think, Don Felder, Glenn Frey, and Don Henley, try to portray and argue the title establishment, a hotel where "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave." On the surface, the song is a tale of a weary traveler who becomes trapped in a nightmarish hotel that at first appeared tempting; as a metaphor the song may be commenting on drug addiction or simply the decadent lifestyle the band had been caught up in at the time. A reference to drugs is found in the line "Warm smell of colitas rising up through the air." Colitas is the name of the buds found on Marijuana plants. Another possible interpretation of the song is that Hotel California is a symbol of California lifestyle, which becomes a metaphor for the 'rock and roll'
