In this essay I am going to create a balanced argument from over the years which many people have used to base their beliefs on whether or not God exists. Furthermore the topic of God is such an important issue in the past few years due to the Iraq war and recent terrorist attacks. It is of importance because in the Iraq war we have a predominantly White-Christian country occupying a predominantly Middle eastern-Muslim country, each with opposing religious beliefs. Which if left to escalate any further could spark a world wide uprising of opposing fundamentalist groups. All because of this entity called, God.

To prove whether God exists or not millions of people have created arguments to sway a mind in what they think is the right direction. Today on the popular media website “Youtube” a search using the words “God”, “Exist” and “Atheism” will cause a torrent of videos to cascade onto your lap. Some very good arguments, and some which are, to put it bluntly, total nonsense.

A popular argument that you can find to disprove the idea of God is that you cannot feel God. You cannot see God. You cannot smell God. You cannot taste God. You cannot even hear God. This leaves most people dumbfounded:

“How can I believe in something that my senses cannot apprehend?”

If it is not something you cannot hold in you hand and feel, eat or smell it does not exist, right? Wrong.

A nuclear weapon. Long after it has exploded it still poses a major threat. This threat is radiation. Radiation is deadly to the human body. It causes cancers, mutations and of course death. We see it after the Chernobyl incident and the two Atom bombs dropped on Japan. We cannot see radiation, only its effects. None of our senses can pick up if there is radiation around the body. It still exists though. Could this mean God exists without us sensing him?

However atheist have a way to counter this argument with the use of a Geiger Counter. This is a meter that gives the infamous “Click” when radiation is present in an area. Alerting the senses that the area around them is radioactive. So far no theist has produced an instrument that makes a “Click” or any sort of alert, even through prayer, that God exists.

In defiance of needing some sort of alert to prove that God exists, theists say

“We can look around at God's creation and have all out senses alerted by nature itself.”

This argument is relatively new to the philosopher's world and it has been dubbed 'The Atheists Nightmare'. However it still relies on looking at nature itself as proof that God exists.

This argument is based around the idea that a banana carries the characteristics of being created by an intelligent designer, simply because it is the perfect food for a human being.

The basis of the argument is that they are five edges around a banana that fit exactly into the contours of the human hand. Which make it easy to grip and will not slip out of your fingers. Another feature is that it is colour coded so it is easy tell whether it is ripe or not. When the banana's skin is green it isn't ripe just yet. When the banana is ripe the skin will turn into it's commonly known yellow colour, and when the banana has become over ripe it turns a black off putting colour.

God in his infinite wisdom has also created a convenient “tab” at the top so the flesh is easy to get into. It is also easy to chew, swallow and digest. The flesh is also packed with vitamins, minerals and carbohydrate. Making it the perfect food for the human body created by an intelligent designer. Except the person who designed these bananas was man.

These bananas which are used in “The Atheist Nightmare” are cultivated bananas. Cultivated bananas have been produced through selective farming for thousands of years from the wild banana that God would have created. It is a very different kind of fruit. It does not display any characteristics of the cultivated banana and this disproves “The Atheists Nightmare” completely.

Nonetheless it is not just the ignorance used to create “The Atheist Nightmare” that can be used to counter the argument. The ignorance, intolerance and sheer level of hate used to retaliate whenever a religious person is confronted about their beliefs can actually be used as an argument against God. For instance the well known scientist and self appointed atheist Richard Dawkins confronts a man Randall Terry about his beliefs.

“ I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good. Our goal is a Christian Nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are called by God, to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism.

Our goal must be simple. We must have a Christian nation built on God's law, on the Ten Commandments. No apologies.”

People may find this to be an extreme view, but it is practised by Senators and in schools in America. A country which was not built on “Christian” beliefs but created by secularists who wanted the church and state kept separate. With groups such as “God Hates Fags”, “Jesus Camp” and the Zionists. Who believe that Israel should be defended for the second coming of Jesus by any means necessary. These all originate from Northern America. Taking a look at Islam instead of which is a religion based on violence, the Prophet Muhammed proclaims that anyone who does not believe in the Islamic way of life should be slaughtered. Now this cannot be classed as the extremist way of Islamic life as it is in The Qu'Ran. Since is in The Qu'Ran this means that a Muslim has to take it seriously. If the theist truly believed in God they should simply be able to brush off any evidence against this omniscient being. Rather than having to resort to cause mass murder. After all, they themselves will be the only people going to live in Paradise. Now people may say that Atheists
