I had to deal with a situation that I have been dreading for some time now: walking into a whole new world. It is a new world completely out of my comfort zone. I know no one. All of my friends through high school have left and moved away to experience the same feeling; deserted. Enter this new atmosphere all alone.

During this new stage of my life, I have to learn how to be dependant on no one else other than myself. I need to learn to deal with any situation that is thrown my way without friends to help me. Doing so is a task in itself. Quite far from easy, but I do not really have a choice.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! That annoying sound that I dread every weekday morning: that God awful alarm clock. 8:45 a.m.; sleepily and slowly I flop over my blankets and roll out of my warm cozy bed. I yawn and make a whining noise. Unwillingly I get up and shower for my first day for college. The process I go through daily of showering, picking out my outfit, applying my make-up, or as I say "putting on my face", and styling my hair. Today was slightly different. The summer was over and there was no going back to High School. I am a college student. Seeing as I really was not trying to impress anyone, I threw on a pair of gray Kent State sweatpants and a yellow Kent State Trumbull T-shirt. Very hastily and sort of sloppily, I put on my face and styled my damp hair. 9:38 a.m. I rushed up the stairs to grab my incredibly heavy book bag and give my mother a kiss.

"Have a good first day of school sweetie," my mom said as I walked swiftly out the door.

"Thanks! I love you! See you after school!" I exclaimed.

I am sure she said "I love you too," but I had already slammed the door and was pulling out of the garage.

9:40 a.m. "Great," I thought. I expected to be late on my first day of college. I ended up behind an elderly person who was driving 40 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. That irritated me. I was so nervous. 9:55 a.m. Practically running from my car to my first class, I made it on time by the skin of my teeth. 10:00 a.m. As I walk into my first class, it seemed as if all eyes were on me. It was like my classmates
