Klunk! "Ouch!" I yelled out in response to being hit in the forehead with a rock. You may ask who threw the rock or was it with malicious intent. Well I will tell you, it is a rather funny story actually.

When I was a young lad of about 7, my attention span was not the greatest. I often switched from one game, activity, or thought faster than a light could be turned on. Even though I may have had a slight case of ADD, I caught on to ideas, experiences, and fact relatively easy. One hot summer day I learned a lot in only a matter of a couple hours. That day I learned some cow, some bull, and I learned to pay attention.

It was the day after the fourth of July and I was still buzzing with excitement from the festivities of the day before. I was outside admiring the world like I usually did, kicking stuff, digging holes, and basically being destructive. While I was on "tour" I pick up a rock the size of a large grape out of out gravel driveway and began tossing it in the air and catching it. At that time a few of my neighbors from across the street came outside. It was Courtney, the oldest, josh, the middle child, and Corrine, the youngest of the three. They were all in a bustle and terribly excited because in their possession was a handful of bottle rockets left over from the day before. As they put a bottle rocket into and empty Coke can, lit it, and then ran away I watch from across the street in admiration at the defiance of the rules. During those days none of the young children on our neighborhood was permitted to touch fireworks much less light them. All the while I am standing there still tossing my rock, mouth ajar, following the bottle rocket into the air and watching it explode. The troublesome trio were now down to their last bottle rocket, Courtney puts it into the bottle, I toss the rock again, and their from door swings open! It is Mrs. Peak, their mother, who blasts out of the door with a barrage of threats
