Last spring of 2006, I had the greatest honor of receiving a letter from the National Youth Leadership Forum On Medicine requesting upon my participation to attend an upcoming summer biomedical program. At the moment, my mind comprised of thrilled emotions, but I was thoroughly ecstatic to even begin thinking of experiencing my future endeavors. I have always aspired to become a doctor and my decision averred often at times when I see my grandmother lying in bed, suffering from lymphoma, during joyous occasions. In my hands lay an invitation to an opportunity of a lifetime to study advancements in medical procedures and I, among thousands, had been nominated to grasp this intellectual adventure. I optimistically looked

at the future convinced that there will be myriad of opportunities to learn more about medicine and the complexities that form the barrier to countless cures that can easily become breakthroughs to a more successful future. My mind wondered would I become the next Dr. J.C. Bose, who brilliantly discovered several diseases in plants; or would I be the next Sir Alexander Fleming who is best known for his discovery of penicillin. Support came pouring from my family as they encouraged me to take advantage of this chance at an exclusive view at my lifetime goal

towards a career in the field of medicine.

After months of awaited anticipation, summer soon arrived and I felt more than ready to pursue this opportunity. Stepping into the grand white stone building of the medical center, the bitter intake of sterliness, amusingly, would soon become homely. Never had I been so nervous yet anxious to embark on my journey into the unknown field of science. From that day on, my fellow peers, who were just as eager to absorb and observe, and I experienced first-hand the components and technology taken to assist or conduct a medical procedure with the guidance of full-time trained specialists. The staff and professional educators are impressive people. They sacrificed time, energy, and money to make their helpful mark on the world; to make each and every decision, patient, and minute count .How could I not feel the same deep desire to motivate and dedicate my time to the prestige occupation of making the impossible, a sheer possibility?
