An Encounter With Wild Dogs

Dogs are wonderful companions and they do provide love and comfort to countless numbers of pet lovers. The vast majority of dogs are lovable and adorable. But, sometimes dogs are more dangerous than lions because lions are rather stupid and inefficient hunters and killers: you'll see them munching the backside of a buffalo while it's still alive. Dogs will disembowel their victims, tearing out their hearts and livers, killing them instantly!

Not long ago I went walking with my dog in two inches of fresh snow, greeting the dawn. We had the whole city to ourselves; no joggers or cyclists this frigid morning. The dog (I call him Fred) was sniffing like a fiend, as he always does after a snow. He worked his nostrils furiously to take everything in, and though I tried to be patient, let him have his whiffs, I had to keep moving so my blood wouldn't freeze.

We moved briskly along a path in a garden and we proceeded on, passing a thicket of tall grass. My eye chanced to fall upon a row of paw prints emerging from the thick grasses, like a long double-row of buttons. They came out almost to the pavement and then halted, abruptly. I halted, too-with such suddenness that I fairly yanked poor Fred's skull off his spine-and bent down for a closer look. On either side of the paw path's terminus I saw disturbances in the snow, some strokes where something had brushed against the surface. As I was thinking about the possible creature who had rubbed against the bushes, a pack of wild dogs came out of the bushes. I was horrified. My dog tried to drive away the pack of the wild dogs, but they took him under their control!

I became motionless for a moment or two, & was really shocked. I stood still, and didn't move because I knew that if I will move, they will attack on me, and definitely, they will kill me. I tried to be patient and tried to pretend that I am not horrified, but in fact, I was in utter despair and confusion.
