1. “Tell me about a time you overcome an obstacle.”

Answer: After I graduated from high school two years and my brother graduated middle school my parents decided it was the perfect time to take an overseas trip. We decided it would be a great time to go to Europe and we visited London first. We had been in London for a few days and we had to catch a train to another city. We were riding on the subway but we got off on the wrong stop because we didn’t get proper directions. We were now beginning to run late for our train and my father began to panic. My dad started pacing around nervously so I decided to step in and take charge in helping us get back to the train station. I grabbed a map and came up with the best subway route and we were able to get to the train station on time. After that incident my father allowed me to take charge in more situations.

1. “Tell me about a time when your leadership abilities were challenged.”

Answer: My leadership abilities were challenged during a volunteer experience at Kumon. This was the August before my senior year and we were getting a bunch of new hires and as a result it was hard to keep track of of who was supposed to come in. Because of that, I had to do much more than a volunteer would have to do like organizing and filing homework, and doing things such as work with the students working on calculus. Because I was responsible for giving the new hires their initial training. Some I met with each one and told them what days I would be able to come. We were able to work out a schedule and I was able to do my appropriate duties as a volunteer.
