With the recruiting of Michael Scully who was then the president of Pepsi-Cola, Apple started to grow. Here, Apple made the effort to strengthen its intellectual capital by bringing on someone who is more familiar with consumer want for a product that is refreshing and new, in conjunction to the company's existing strength of advancing technology. With a combination of Scully's experience of heading a soft drink company and the pair of Stevens' knowledge in electronics born from leading companies like Hewlett Packard and Atari, they needed take it the next step up in convincing the consumer why this product was "in" and why it should be purchased. The problem with Apple was their programs and information were only accessible to those who owned an Apple. If the rest of the world has regular PCs, and a few companies had Macs, they would be limited to doing business with companies who owned Macs. Here, globalization and technology go hand-in-hand because technology is a vehicle for interdependence and communication. Apple failed in its rigid compatibility. What may be saving Apple right now is it s decision to be built to accommodate these popular programs. Through research on Mac structure, what makes them more marketable than a regular PC is its resistance to computer viruses. In terms of diversity, it seems that Apple is focused on ability and potential in hiring their employees rather than racial factors. It is not outlined in the case information on Apple's hiring practices. Apple's previous success came in unstable waves, but we can see now that it is interested in stabilizing as well as exploring new ideas such as giving people access to new music through personal electronic devices crafted by the company. On one hand, Apple will be able to regain their popularity, music/ movie lovers will get to enjoy what they like, and the entertainment industry will be able to get their product out to the public to gain
