Introduction

Google Inc. is a publicly traded company headed by CEO Dr. Eric Schimidt, specializing in internet searching and online advertising. Google was co-founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were students at Stanford University, and the company was first incorporated as a privately held company on September 7, 1998.The two founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin both play active roles in decision making process though.There are over 25 diffirent offices that Google owns, but the Home Office for the company is located in the heart of Silicon Valley in Mountain View, California.The business itself generates most of its revenue from keyword based advertising and the use of its search engine technology to find relevent pages to visitors’ searches(Google.com).

Mission statement

Google’s mission statement is “ To organize the world” information and make it universilly accessable and useful”(Google.com). Google has also foundeed a ten part philoshophy that they stand by. (1) Focus on the user and all else will follow. For Google this means to make the best experience possible for the user. Fast, Clean, and accurate searches are what Google is based on. (2) It’s best to do one thing really, really well. Google does searches better than anyone. (3) Fast is better than slow. This is evident in their search return times. Google believes that visitors should get what they want and as fast as possible. (4) Democracy on the web works. This has worked for Google since the inspection of BackRub. By looking at what people are linking to, it gives the Google search engine a better frame of what to show as relevent to a visitors search. (5) You don’t need to be at your desk to need an answer. This is true now that Google has Google Mobile to offer searching to visitors, even though who can not get to a traditional computer. (6) You can make money without doing evil. Google does not show ads on its search results page unless it is relevent to the search. Google also does not sell pop-up ads. (7) There is always more information out there. Once Google mastered indexing of web pages, there was always phone numbers, addresses, information databases, area of information that are not normally accessible. (8) The need for information cross all borders. The internet does not stop at the borders of the United States and neither does Google. (9) You can be serious without a suit. Life at Googleples in Mountain View, California is very diffierent from most business.Google believe that its employees should be comfortable without having to worry about how they dress and just concentrate on their projects, ideas, and work. (10) Great just isn’t good enough. Google believes that one always should deliver more than what is expected and great products and business will come forth (Google.com).

Strategic Goals

Google has created some goals for themselves to better their systems internally as well as push items that Google provides. Google is looking to better the environment that their engineers are working in to make them more productive. They hope that this will lead to new innovations and to become the best at what they do, web searching. Google also wants to make their tools and services everywhere for everyone. Google wants to push its toolbar and search related tools to try to drawn in more and more visitors (Lesson).

Customer Demographics and Geographic Markets

Google’s customers range from the average interest user to much more adept computer users and also businesses looking to advertise to selected markets. Customers consist of people who use computers and have an internet connection, also people who have an access to an internet connected computer. Google’s customers are also companies that wish to advertise on the internet. Google places ads based on the search made by the user. This gives advertisers the ability to hit a narrower market that may be more interested in their product. Advertising revenues make up a large portion of Google’s income, and therefore are on of Google’s biggest customers.

Google’s geographic market spreads across the world. Google has a personalized version of its search engine in 113 different countries (“Google Worldwide: Language and Countries”). Search engines are the phonebook of the internet, no one would know what companies are out there or how see what these companies offer if search engines did not exist. Therefore, Google’s customers and potential customers consist of every computer and internet user. Google’s geographic market consists mainly of developed countries, but also includes the markets of developing countries where there is potential growth and a new customer base.

Google, since becoming publicly traded, has been a company to watch with its 2006 revenues of $10.6 billion, and a sales growth of 73% (Napoli, “Google Inc.”). This growth is very low when compared to the previous growth rates that Google had experienced, but when compared to the industries growth rate of 30%, Google’s growth is more then excellent (Napoli, “Google Inc.”).The company starting in 1999 with only 39 employees increased to 7,942 as of current shows the rapid expansion that Google has taken within seven years. Google is beginning to have to look outside of the US markets as well as its own primary industry to keep up its exceptional growth rates. Google has also within the past seven years, because of the nature of the company; has become a household name. Globally Google has become a major competitor as well.

Major Products

Google is split into two major means for producing revenue for the company. Services that the company offers to major corporations for search services as well as those offered to mobile companies. And fees that are charged to companies for the purpose of advertising based on related text searches from it search engine site.

Google gains much of its revenues from advertising. This advertising comes from many sources, but most notably from its search engine page. Customer use a product called Adwards. Adwards is a service that Google offers that allow customers to create their own ads based on the text those they wish their product to be related to.

The second form of major advertising that is used by Google is a means to extend the network of its advertising. Companies can implement a service by Google called Adsense. Adsense
