Misery Assignment

1.        The significance of Kathy Bates character, Annie Wilkes being his “#1 Fan” showed he audience how truly obsessed she was of the author knowing about how he goes about writing the novel script, his whole background when asked of him by the county sheriff, and even using a line from one of his novel’s in court for murdering children.

2.        As normal people in society, fame and people in that field we find fascinating, forgetting the mere fact that they too are people with personal issues.  Going to the extent of knowing every song from an artists’ album, or visiting their first home, takes it to another level of obsession, In my generation it was the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber who were big names in the industry and through the use of public relations.& mediums such as limited edition magazines, documentaries, and the like it got the fans closer to the real people behind the fame.  Some fans are stuck in this state of delusion actually planning out the many ways to meet their idol, making fan pages on social media, researching their where abouts.  It begins to consume us, others in unhealthy ways seen in Kathy Bates character.

3.        Annie was so concerned with Misery because to her, Misery was another version of herself and she saw herself in Misery & when she found out that the author killed Misery off to finally end the series, she became so angry and flustered by this to the extent of burning the manuscript and asking him to write a new one where she was resurrected.  It was absolutely insane how this fanatic of the author finds him and portrays herself to be nursing him back to help but in reality she wanted him all to herself.
