Title

First published in 1818, Frankenstein story corresponded to its time described by substantial scientific upsurge and copious experimentations.Creation of Medical and Scientific experiments started in the 17th century during the time of Prodigious Scholars and inventors formulated medical experiments since medical tests were one of the tools used in research. One of the stories that accentuate pursuit of knowledge and research is Shelley’s Frankenstein story since, in the story human’s  quench, desire to overpower nature, and scientific discoveries beyond the imagination of a sober human being are ascribed. (Shemma, Aviv, Meirom and Dov 2016).There is enough evidence that science ca go too far as revealed by the author in the story as such exceeding the human ethics. Therefore, this paper evidences the pick at which science can reach as there is a limit to everything. Moreover, the essay will try to reveal the medical borders of scientific research.

Because human beings can think of creating a creature that resembles him or her, then science is a powerful tool that can exceed the expected boundary. The story Frankenstein, the author writes about the main character as a pioneer and researcher of his time. Furthermore, the character in the story had passion in scientific discoveries, and it is evident when Victor Frankenstein created a monster to reveal the real secrets of life. Does it mean that there are secrets behind nature? One Supreme being God does the creation of life (Oppong and Steward 2013), but Victor’s cognizance was a thought of an unresolved scientific pursuit. Hence he did not estimate possible concerns and the accountability of his actions as a creator. Evident from the quote in the story  “Oh, Frankenstein, be not impartial to every other and flatten upon me only, to whom thy fairness, and even thy compassion and friendliness, is most due. Remember that I am thy creature” (Miller and Susan 2013). Finally, Victor destroys the female creature after coming realizing that it would pose a threat. Even though the female creature never came to live since Victor had to kill it.

The part of creation and killing is similar the case of science in this times where people create and kills, and the author reminds of the problem which is abortion (Alison et al. 2011) Science have gone too far since people can destroy what they have created. In the past abortions was an imaginable and impeached act but science has brought it too far, a question is posed do people humans possess the right to take away life? That question has never been answered in the arguments supporting abortion. There is a clear picture of the actions of Frankenstein and the science of the current world. Just as Frankenstein created a monster scientist in the current world are performing cloning. Cloning means developing a copyright from the original then human beings can have clones.( Thomas and Wayne 855-859)

Genetic Engineering will propagate the limit of science. Therefore, there should be limitations of undertaking such actions since it is dangerous and unethical.  Moreover, genetic engineering in modern world involves modifying the resemblance of an organism done by scientists and researchers (Hockemeyer et al. 2011)  Science has gone too far since modification of a gene is beyond the expected limit. The possibilities of genetic engineering are the creation of human life which is done by God alone, but now scientist’s are putting themselves in the same shoes. Apart from that, answering the question can science go too far? Is evident in the current technology of  the “Artificial Reproductive Technology.”

Through the existence of Artificial Reproductive Technology humans beings and other creatures can be genetical engineered, cloned and created. That show the limit that science of the present world has entered. There is a possibility that the world and humans will tune in to buying babies genetically modified and created with the taste and preferences of the parents just imagine a world with babies without a navel or rather an umbilicus. (Knaplund and Kristine 2014) Therefore, science can go too far since the people who were once good are becoming bad by conducting dangerous and harmful researches. The author of the story Frankenstein brings out clearly that the implications of the scientific research are unpredictable since the character Frankenstein realized that his creation was unpredictable and may lead to the unexpected end point. Therefore, Frankenstein destroyed the creature. The creations of creatures by scientist might exceed the standards and taken too far to the point of hunt game where the creator get hunted.
