Distortion is an image. An illusion of a thought or an idea that appears to have a single affect on a society; however, it provides an image on society that is completely different. Often times, in order to comprehend the realism of today's society and the point that the author tries to make in presenting its flaws, the writer must distort reality. In doing this he urges the reader to entertain in the deep thought process that forces them to realize the reality of a situation based on society and individuals. In the novel Brave New World, Aldous Huxley, the idea of dystopia and is distorts by creating a utopian visage. By distorting relationships and science, Huxley allows readers to realize the happiness that the inhabitants feel is in actuality the unhappiness they are trying to avoid. In the novel, science, sex and drugs suppress and distort true happiness of the characters in the anti-utopian society.

How can science change a society? How can it distort to create an image of happiness? Science is used to suppress human emotions and distort societies issues. Science has distorted happiness by distorting God. They pray "Oh mighty Ford" instead of Lord, due to Henry Ford's great assembly line of the model T. The assembly line was the most important because it was an inspiration for mass productions of humans. Science is suppressing emotions by building a society based on mass production of the hands as appose to the heart. Mass production is important to scientists because it allows humans to be created quickly in the exact necessity. By distorting mass production and the Lord, the illusion of happiness is created. Scientists of Brave New World destroy destiny by cutting of oxygen to created embryos in order to create a lower class citizen. The controller states, "The lower the caste the shorter the oxygen." (11), proving that the government shortens oxygen to each embryo depending on the class. Scientists use technology to make a human suppress the desire to compete, to achieve higher in the alpha, beta, gamma, classifications. By suppressing the desire to achieve, science creates the illusion of a content and happy society. Science is used to suppress society and distort.

What affects do drugs have on the common human emotions? Drugs are also used to

suppress human emotions and other issues in the novel. Throughout the novel. The drug "soma"

is used to suppress and distort. It creates a non emotion state of being, in which the appearance of happiness is created. Soma is the mass production drug used to create stability in

emotions. By suppressing fear and intimidation by soma, the government is limitless to its

power. The Controller states about soma, "All of the advantages of Christianity and alcohol and

none of their defects." (54). Soma has no affects but social stability for the government, as

appose to alcohol and other drugs that cause several complications. Its feel good effect distort happiness. Soma is used to interest social stability. Soma is used to distort emotions by suppressing them.

How is sex used as a distortion? Brave New World is flowering with sexual persuasion

as a distortion. In the novel, people treat sex as a form
