Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States. He happily married and had six children. He had many positions in the political field. Roosevelt made many new acts a made a huge difference. He got the U.S. out of depression and helped it regain its strength after an attack.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was born in Hyde Park, New York on January 30, 1882. He was the son of James Roosevelt and Sara Delano Roosevelt. He received a BA degree from Harvard, and studied law at Columbia University. Roosevelt married in 1905 to a distant cousin named Anna Eleanor Roosevelt. They had six children, Anna, James, Elliot, Franklin, Jr. and John. Eleanor helped Roosevelt through his entire political career. She became a member in the State Democratic Committee, and she held conferences and gave lectures in parts of the country. In 1921 Roosevelt got poliomyelitis, and never regained the use of his legs. Stress from the war wore Roosevelt out, on April 12, 1945 he suffered a massive stroke and died. Eleanor died in 1962 and was buried next to her husband.

Roosevelt held many positions in politics. He first practiced law at a New York Law Firm. His politics life started in 1910 when he was elected the New York State Senate and was reelected in 1912. In 1913 Wilson appointed him Assistant Secretary of the Navy, which he held until 1920. He was Commander in Chief during World War 2. After Herbert Hoover was elected president Roosevelt was elected governor and reelected in 1930. He then campaigned for presidency, which he won in 1932 beating Hoover by seven million votes. He stayed president for four terms, making him the longest president in office.
