Were the Native Americans the Victims of Genocide? How Far Do You Agree?

Christopher Columbus discovered America. But how could he have discovered some place where people were already living? The Native Americans once occupied the entire region of the United Sates. The Native Americans used to live in large built terraced communities and their main way of finding food. But all these things changed after the Europeans settlers settle down in America.

The Native Americans were forced to emigrate because the colonists were in need of more land for their faming purposes and for more space for the new settlers. The Native Americans were forced to moved further westward. Many of the Native Americans tribes were forced to walk hundreds of miles, barefoot in the middle of the winter, without proper clothing and sufficient food. Some Native Americans refused to leave their lands and fought against the colonists, but they were ultimately banned. The Native Americans were then forced to live in reservations with poor soil, extreme climates and the reservation lands were isolated. Many of the Native Americans soon died from starvation in the reservation.

The Europeans colonists also brought contagious diseases, which killed almost all of the Native Americans. It is clear that the colonists used biological warfare as their weapons due to the mass number of the Native Americans death caused by the contagious diseases brought by the colonists.

The colonists also killed many buffalos which were the main source of food and materials to the Native Americans. They killed the buffalos for fun and to spite their Native Americans enemies. This led to many of the Native Americans to death.
