In 1783 the Treaty of Paris was signed to end the American Revolution. Because America defeated the British in the American Revolution, America became independent. Because America gained independence, they needed a new government. This led to the Articles of Confederation. However, the Articles of Confederation had many weaknesses, the flaws in the Articles of confederation showed chaos throughout the nation and it was discovered in Shay's Rebellion, Annapolis Convention, and the relations ships between the United States and foreign countries.

In the Articles of Confederation, there were many great faults. The flaws of the Articles of Confederation were discovered during Shay's Rebellion, Annapolis Convention, and the relationships between the U.S. and Foreign countries. During Shay's Rebellion, the government could not stop the rebellion and it showed one of the faults of the Articles of Confederation, which is to enforce laws. Suring the Annapolis Convention, delegates were sent to Annapolis to fix interstate commerce, because the different states all had different currencies and it was hard for them to trade with one another. During the convention, it was finally discovered that the Articles of Confederation did not work. Foreign relationships were not good before the Constitution was ratified. Britain had flooded the American market with goods, France wanted compensation from the America Revolution, and Spain cut off access to the Mississippi River. This helped America realized that the Articles of Confederation could not support stable diplomatic relationships.

The importance of the discovery of the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation is that now America has a stable government. If the Articles of Confederation's faults were not discovered, the Constitution would not replace the Articles of Confederation and America would have an unstable government and most probably will fall under the hands of a foreign country.
