Should these Confederate monuments be removed?

First and foremost this is a different situation than the pyramids in Egypt and the Colosseum in Rome but not by much. Yes it is true that these statues represent history and an important part of America’s past but it is still very complicated. Yes I do believe that these monuments should be removed. Why? The answer really is clear, with these monuments in place it is kind of like saying white people are still at the top, it stands for white supremacy. If anything these monuments should be in a museum where they can be displayed properly and no one can argue because the point of a museum is to inform people about history. Plus in this country of America it is said that we are all “equal” if this is to be true then why still have a monument dedicated to the people that treated the blacks like they were property and not human beings with feelings. In fact, it’s not even like it is just black people saying to remove it, it’s blacks and whites that are saying to remove these monuments. The only people who want to to keep these monuments are white people, specifically the ones who still support the Confederacy. The reason the majority of them say is “it’s a part of our history, our heritage…” if this is true it should be in a museum not in a heavily populated city where there are people of different races. It just isn’t right because the truth of the matter is that with those monuments up it does stand for white supremacy. It does show our history and yes it was very important but if that’s the case then these monuments should be in a museum. America is supposedly a country where being “equal” and everyone being treated “the same” so there shouldn’t be any monuments in these cities that represent a time back when not everyone was treated the same or not everyone was equal.
